Emmett's story

His hardest days became the beginning of something bigger.

Emmett was just a little boy when a terrible lawnmower accident changed his life in an instant. What followed was a journey no parent ever expects to take—emergency care, surgeries, long days in the hospital, and a road to recovery filled with uncertainty.

Emmett spent four days on a ventilator and endured more than any child should have to endure. His injuries ultimately resulted in the loss of part of his leg through a Symes amputation. There were difficult days, painful moments, and countless reasons to be afraid.

But Emmett kept going.

He learned to adapt. He learned to walk again. He went through the process of fittings, adjustments, and learning to use his prosthetic. And through it all, he continued being what he has always been—a happy, determined, adventurous little boy who refuses to let what happened to him define what he can do.

Watching Emmett grow from a child fighting to heal into a little boy running, playing baseball, going to school, making memories, and simply being a kid changed our family forever.

We know firsthand how overwhelming the journey after a traumatic injury can be. Families need more than medical care. They need someone who understands. They need encouragement. They need resources, connection, and reminders that there is hope beyond the hardest days.

That is why we created the Emmett Brave Foundation.

“We can't change what happened to Emmett. But we can use his story to help another child and family feel a little less alone.”
